The department of Marathi was established in the year 1973 and known as oldest department of our college. For over last 45 years, it has proved to be a source of career building to the students not only of the Arts faculty but even for the students from education faculty. In 2000 department commence post graduate course.
Dr. Rajan Gavas a well known Marathi writer and Sahitya Academy Award Winner headed the department in 2000 to 2012. He brought name and fame to the college by his contribution in Marathi literature, various Marathi literature activities in and outside the college. The department was headed previously by famous Marathi literature personalities like by Dr. N. H. Nimbalkar, Prin. Dr. J. N. Kalake, etc.
Department is active in teaching and in the overall development of the student. All faculty members emphasize imparting up-to-date subject knowledge to the students. They put continuous efforts for enhancing the student inner strength and understanding ability.

Departmental cabin, common computer facility, internet facility

Central library possess more than 10000 books of all kind of Marathi literature for all students and department library with 60 books is available for students and staff.
