Waste Management

Effective waste management is an essential responsibility of our college to ensure a clean, healthy, and environmentally sustainable campus. With a growing number of students, faculty, and staff, systematic waste management practices are necessary to minimize environmental impact and promote responsible behavior. Our college follows a structured approach to the collection, segregation, treatment, and disposal of waste generated on campus. The college has implemented a well-organized waste collection system across all departments, classrooms, laboratories, hostels, offices, and common areas. Clearly labeled bins are placed at strategic locations to encourage segregation of waste at the source. Separate bins are provided for biodegradable waste, non-biodegradable waste, and recyclable materials. Students and staff are educated about the importance of proper waste segregation through awareness campaigns, orientation programs, and signage displayed throughout the campus. This practice ensures that waste is managed efficiently and reduces the burden on landfills. Biodegradable waste such as food scraps and garden waste is collected and processed through composting. The compost generated is used as natural manure for maintaining gardens and green spaces within the campus. This not only reduces waste but also supports sustainable landscaping practices. Non-biodegradable and recyclable waste, including paper, plastic, metal, and glass, is handed over to authorized recycling agencies. Hazardous waste, particularly from laboratories, is handled separately following prescribed safety guidelines to prevent environmental contamination and health risks. Electronic waste (e-waste) such as old computers, printers, and other electronic devices is disposed of through certified e-waste management vendors to ensure environmentally safe recycling and disposal. The college actively promotes waste reduction initiatives. Efforts are made to minimize the use of single-use plastics by encouraging reusable water bottles, eco-friendly packaging, and digital documentation to reduce paper consumption. Events and programs organized on campus follow green protocols to minimize waste generation. Awareness programs, workshops, and cleanliness drives are regularly conducted to instill environmental responsibility among students. The institution encourages student participation in sustainability initiatives, fostering a culture of accountability and eco-consciousness.
